Thrillers The Skeleton Key and The Black Dahlia made their Blu-ray debuts on Sept. 7, 2010, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
Directed by Iain Softley (Inkheart), 2005 supernatural movie The Skeleton Key stars Kate Hudson (Nine) as a hospice nurse who gets caught up in a mystery when she’s hired to take care of an elderly man in an out of the way house in New Orleans. Gena Rowlands (The Notebook), John Hurt (TV’s Merlin) and Peter Sarsgaard (An Education) also star.
This is not the movie’s high-definition debut, as The Skeleton Key was issued on the now defunct HD DVD format in 2007. The film grossed $47.8 million at the box office.
2006’s The Black Dahlia is making its high-def debut with this Blu-ray release. The movie, directed by Brian De Palma (Carlito’s Way), tells the story of two 1940s Los Angeles police officers whose lives fall apart as they try to solve the brutal murder of a woman. It stars Josh Hartnett (Sin City), Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2), Aaron Eckhart (Love Happens) and Hilary Swank (Amelia).
The Black Dahlia grossed $22.5 million when it was in theaters.
