Fantasy movie Stardust was released on Blu-ray in the U.S. on Sept. 7, 2010.
The film, about a young man who goes on an adventure when he tries to bring his love a star that has fallen from the sky, was issued on Blu-ray overseas in 2007, the same time it was released on the now defunct high-definition format HD DVD. But, Paramount Home Entertainment put new extras on this new Blu-ray to entice fans to upgrade.
Starring Claire Danes, Charlie Cox, Sienna Miller, Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro, Stardust is a fairy tale love story based on a novel by popular fantasy author Neil Gaiman (Coraline). The movie grossed $38.6 million when it hit theaters in 2007.
The new special features on the Blu-ray are:
- commentary by writer and director Matthew Vaughn and writer Jane Goldman
- “Crossing the Wall: The Making of Stardust,” with five parts: “The Quest for the Stone…,” “A Portal to Another World…,” “What Do Stars Do?,” “A Quest of Enormous Importance…” and “Have You Seen a Fallen Star?”
- “Nothing Is True…”
The Blu-ray also includes deleted scenes and a blooper reel, which were on earlier disc versions of the movie.
The HD DVD did have a different making-of featurette.
The Blu-ray was priced at $29.99 and includes DTS-HP audio and 1080p high-definition video.
