2010’s A Nightmare On Elm Street, a reboot of the Freddy Krueger franchise, arrived on DVD and Blu-ray on Oct. 5, 2010, from Warner Home Video.
In this Nightmare On Elm Street, Freddy Krueger is played by Watchmen‘s Jackie Earle Haley, replacing Robert Englund, who originated the role. The horror movie also stars Katie Cassidy (TV’s Melrose Place), Kyle Gallner (Jennifer’s Body) and Thomas Dekker (TV’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles).
Continuing the story of an evil being attacking and killing teens in their dreams, A Nightmare On Elm Street grossed $63 million in theaters.
The Blu-ray came out as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with digital copy, allowing users to play the movie on Blu-ray players, DVD players and download the digital copy to mobile phones and portable players.
The DVD has only one special feature:
- featurette “Freddy Krueger Reborn,” about the reinvention of the classic franchise.
The Blu-ray/DVD combo pack offers that plus:
- “Maniacle Movie Mode”
- alternate opening
- alternate ending
- and a deleted scene.
The DVD was priced at $28.98, and Blu-ray at $29.99, just $1.01 more than DVD. The studio did the same for its Jonah Hex Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.
