Move over Twilight and True Blood. CW’s hit TV show The Vampire Diaries debuted on DVD and Blu-ray on Aug. 31, 2010, from Warner Home Video.
Starring Ian Somerhalder (TV’s Lost), Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev, The Vampire Diaries is based on the best-selling young adult book series by L.J. Smith. Somerhalder and Wesley star as vampire brothers, one good and one evil, and Dobrev looks like the woman both brothers loved 150 years ago.
The purchase of The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season came with a downloadable copy of the audiobook of L.J. Smith’s novel The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening.
The DVD, priced at $59.98, and Blu-ray, at $69.97, includes all 22 episodes of the horror television series’ first season. Both the DVD and Blu-ray also come with plenty of special features. Here’s the menu:
- “Into Mystic Falls” featurette, bringing vampire lore and the high school experience from page to screen
- “When Vampires Don’t Suck!” featurette about the popularity of vampires and their fans
- “The Vampire Diaries: A New Breed of Vampires” featurette about the series’ casting
