Walking Shadows issued the British zombie film Colin on DVD on Oct. 19, 2010. The cult film favorite, which was reportedly made for just $75, was released as a single-DVD for a suggested retail price of $19.95 and a two-DVD special edition with an hour-plus of expanded bonus features for $29.95.

A surprise hit at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, the independent film has played to acclaim at numerous film festivals and horror conventions across the country and receive a limited release in U.S. theaters in September 2010.

Colin DVD boxThe brainchild of British writer/director Marc Price, Colin stars Alastair Kirton as the titular undead dude and offers an original, unique perspective on the zombie story — a tale told through the zombie’s eyes. Made for approximately £45 pounds (in British currency) that was mostly spent on tea and cookies for his “zombies,” Price relied on friends and Facebook to cast his legion of undead extras.

Without funding for the movie, it was imperative to bring more enthusiasm to the film’s set and apply extra innovation to problem solving (technical or otherwise). Taking 18 months to complete and shooting with a 10-year-old camcorder that repeatedly broke down, a determined Price borrowed what he needed and performed most crew roles himself while holding down a night-shift job as a taxi booker.

The single-DVD edition includes a director’s commentary. The two-DVD set also has the commentary as well as a making-of documentary, deleted scenes, a deleted scenes commentary and Price’s new short film, The End.
