Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the DVD
of Mrs. Miracle, a movie adaptation of best-selling novelist Debbie Macomber
’s book of the same name
, on Nov. 16, 2010, for the suggested retail price of $20.95.
The holiday drama film stars James Van Der Beek (TV’s Dawson’s Creek) and Doris Roberts (TV’s Everybody Loves Raymond) in a story of a widowed father who is destined to find faith and renewed hope for his family after he loses the love of his life.
Van Der Beek plays overwhelmed widower Seth Webster, who is searching for a housekeeper to help him with his rambunctious 6-year-old twin sons. Mrs. Merkle (Roberts), whom the boys call “Mrs. Miracle,” mysteriously appears and quickly becomes an irreplaceable nanny, chef, friend… and matchmaker — a la Nanny McPhee.
Mrs. Miracle also stars Erin Karpluk (TV’s Life Unexpected) as a Christmas pageant director who enters Seth’s life at just the right moment.
Made for television, the movie premiered on the Hallmark Channel in December, 1999.
