A posse of possessed souls might be raising hell, but it’s definitely the ladies who run the show in Night of the Demons, a remake of the cheesy but well-regarded 1988 horror movie.

Genre babes and men’s mag favorites Diora Baird (30 Days of Night: Dark Days), Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie), Monica Keena (Fifty Pills) and Bobbi Sue Luther (Extreme Movie) wear all the right stuff (read: sexy!) in this Evil Dead-ish film. All are at a drug-and-booze-fueled Halloween blow-out at a remote mansion that happens to be haunted by evil spirits that change a bunch of party people into blood-thirsty demons. And it’s not the just the gals — boy toys Edward Furlong (Terminator 2), John F. Beach (TV’s Fear Clinic) and Michael Copon (Bring It On: In It to Win It), too!

We’ve seen this drill before, but this independent film is styled raucously (and with a wink to his audience) by director Adam Gierasch and his team, who serve up brash lighting, 1980s Day-Glo colors, loud music, some creatively gory slayings and a couple of equally creative (and bloody!) sex scenes. When it’s all put together, Night of the Demons captures the feel and spirit of the original film.

Still, it’s that quartet of enthusiastic, lovely actresses that makes this a Night to remember for a little while. Oh, and there’s a cameo by reigning 1980s B Queen Linnea Quigley (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master) and a bitchy turn by the always busy Tiffany Shepis (10 movies so far this year and still counting).

Special features on the Demons DVD include a lively commentary featuring Gierasch, screenwriter Jace Anderson and three actors, all of whom appear to have had a great time making the film (and recording the track).
