British comedian Ricky Gervais’ latest TV show, appropriately titled The Ricky Gervais Show, arrived on DVD in the U.S. on Jan. 4, 2011, having already debuted on DVD in the U.K.
The comedy series, starring Gervais (co-creator of the British The Office), Stephen Merchant (also creator of the original The Office) and Karl Pilkington (Cemetery Junction), began as a series of podcasts and was later set to animation. The original podcasts earned a spot in The Guinness Book of World Records for the most downloads.
The animated television series, which aired on HBO, explores such subjects as 20th century inventions, population control, philosophy, Pilkington’s round head and his thoughts on charity.
Distributed by Warner Home Video, The Ricky Gervais Show: The Complete First Season includes all 13 episodes on two DVDs priced at $29.98.
The set also has two special features:
- “Comedy Gala Animation”
- and episode storyboard.
