New Release: Red Hill DVD and Blu-ray

Ryan Kwanten attempts to survive his stay in Red Hill.

Australian action thriller Red Hill arrived on Blu-ray and DVD on Jan. 25, 2011, priced at $30.95 and $24.96, respectively, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

The movie, which unfolds over the course of a single day and night, tells the tale of Constable Shane Cooper (Ryan Kwanten, TV’s True Blood), who arrives in the small town of Red Hill in search of a quieter life. But, on Cooper’s first day with the Red Hill Police Department, a convicted murderer (Tom E. Lewis, The Proposition) escapes from prison and heads straight for Red Hill to kill the men who put him there. One by one, the townsmen fall, until Cooper discovers the shocking truth about the convict and must challenge everything he believes in order to stop the massacre and bring justice to Red Hill.

Directed by Patrick Hughes in his feature film directorial debut, Red Hill also stars Steve Bisley (East of Everything) and Claire van der Boom (The Square).

Red Hill was trickled onto five screens in early November 2010 for a box office gross of about $17,000, so it’s essentially a DVD premiere movie.

No special features are included on the DVD or Blu-ray.
