Paramount Home Entertainment debuted another of Steven Spielberg’s movies on high-definition Blu-ray on April 5, 2011: A.I. Artificial Intelligence, starring Haley Joel Osment (Home of the Giants, The Sixth Sense), Jude Law (Repo Men) and William Hurt (Broadcast News).
The 2001 science-fiction movie tells the story of the first artificial boy (Osment), created by scientists (Hurt) to always love, but after an accident makes his parents qorry about his humanity, they abandon him. With his mechanical teddy bear, the boy travels to get back to his mother (Frances O’Connor of Timeline) and joins with another artificial being (Law). Together they try to survive the underbelly of the city, where artificial beings are treated as third-class citizens, including being used in gladiator-style arenas.
PG-13-rated A.I. grossed $78.6 million when it was released in theaters 10 years ago.
