Manuel Rubey demands that Amadeus rock him in the 2008 biopic Falco.

Strand Releasing issued the German biography movie Falco on DVD on April 19, 2011.

The 2008 movie presents the life, work and tragic death of Johann ‘Falco’ Hölzel, the Austrian pop music sensation who rose to prominence in the 1980s with such hits as “Der Kommissar,” “Wiener Blut” and the worldwide smash “Rock Me Amadeus.”

Directed by Thomas Roth and starring Manuel Rubey in the title role, the film chronicles Falco’s meteoric rise from child prodigy to his first taste of success as a member of the Viennese band Drahdiwaberl, up through his international popularity as a solo artist and subsequent “escape” from the pressures of the record industry into a world of sex and drugs.

Featuring colorful recreations of Falco’s stylish and popular music videos, Falco was originally titled Falco – Verdammt, wir leben noch! when it was first released theatrically in Europe. Translated into English, that’s “Falco – dammit, we’re still alive!,” which is actually the name of an album of unreleased Falco tracks that was issued shortly after his death in a car crash in 1998.

No bonus features are on the DVD, which carries a list price of $24.99.
