New Release: The Man Who Would Be King Blu-ray Book

The Man Who Would Be King movie sceneThe 1975 four-time Oscar-nominated film The Man Who Would Be King, starring Sean Connery (Highlander) and Michael Caine (Inception), debuted on high-definition Blu-ray on June 7, 2011, from Warner Home Video.

Directed by John Huston (The African Queen), the movie tells the story of two men (Connery and Caine) in India who were British soldiers when the country was under British rule. But when they resign from the Army, they go to Kafiristan, a land where no white man has set foot since Alexander and set themselves up as deities. Christopher Plummer (The Last Station) also stars in the action adventure film.

The movie, which is based on a short story by author Rudyard Kipling, was nominated for an Academy Award in the categories of art direction, costume design, editing and screenplay.

The film was released as a Blu-ray Book, with the disc packaged inside a 32-page book.

The disc includes just one special feature, the vintage featurette “Call It Magic: The Making of The Man Who Would Be King.”

The Blu-ray Book was priced at $34.99.
