New Release: Burning Palms Blu-ray and DVD

Burning Palms movie scene

Zoe Saldana is a lonely denizen of Los Angeles in Burning Palms.

Image Entertainment released the 2010 Los Angeles-based comedy/drama anthology film Burning Palms, on DVD and Blu-ray on May 31, 2011.

The movie includes five separate tales, all undeniably dark. Here’s some info on the three that made the strongest impression on us: A lonely copy store employee (Zoe Saldana, Avatar) manages to find the man who raped her (Nick Stahl, Meskada) and then proceeds to spend a nice evening with him; a gay male couple (In Her Shoes‘ Anson Mount and The Losers‘ Peter Macdissi) illegally adopt a seven-year-old girl from Africa (Tiara McKinney, I Tried); and a woman (Rosamund Pike, An Education) learns that there’s more than meets they eye to her fiance’s overly affectionate attitude to his promiscuous teenage daughter (Emily Meade, My Soul to Take). Yeash….

Written and directed by Christopher Landon, Burning Palms received a limited release in theaters in January 2011, following its debut at the Newport Beach International Film Festival in April 2010.
