New Release: Father of My Children DVD

Father of my Children movie scene

Louis-Do de Lencquesaing bonds with his girls in Father of My Children.

The acclaimed 2009 French drama Father of My Children arrived on DVD on March 22, 2011, courtesy of IFC.

Directed by the acclaimed Mia Hansen-Love (All Is Forgiven), the movie focuses on Gregoire (Cache), a Parisian film producer who appears to have it all — a beautiful wife (Chiara Caselli, Ripley’s Game), three adorable daughters, wealth and a buzzing career.

On the surface he seems invincible, maintaining humor and charm as he tirelessly juggles the demands of his production company with his family’s needs. Even as he speeds to the countryside to spend long weekends with them, he’s still working – cajoling money from financiers with a phone tucked under his ear, a cigarette in one hand and the steering wheel in the other. Gregoire’s latest production is running way over budget thanks to a temperamental Scandinavian director, a situation that will prove the greatest test of Gregoire and his family’s love and resilience.

Exploring the bonds between parents and children, and husbands and wives, and asking if the frayed family connections can withstand the pressures upon them, Father of My Children received a well-reviewed, limited theatrical release in the U.S. last year following a successful European theatrical run.

No special features are on the DVD, which carries a list price of $24.98.
