Kat Dennings gets involved with Reece Thompson in Daydream Nation.

Anchor Bay released the romance-tinged drama Daydream Nation, starring Kat Dennings (Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist) and Josh Lucas (Peacock), on Blu-ray and DVD on May 17, 2011.

The latest film portrait about the travails of disaffected youth, Daydream Nation tells the story of city girl Carline Wexler (Dennings) who moves to a small town and becomes wrapped up in a love triangle with her high school teacher (Lucas) and one of her stoner classmates (Reece Thompson, Assassination of a High School President).

Written and directed by Michael Goldbach, Daydream Nation co-stars Andie MacDowell (Beauty Shop) and Rachel Blanchard (Adoration) and has a soundtrack that features such artists as Sonic Youth, Sebadoh, Metric and Beach House.

The Canadian movie was first screened at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival but essentially premiered in North American on Blu-ray and DVD.

The DVD includes a featurette.
