The Art of Getting By is a coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama film starring Emma Roberts (It’s Kind of a Funny Story) and Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) set against the backdrop of very beautiful New York City.
The movie spins the tale of George (Highmore), a lonely and fatalistic high school teen who’s made it all the way to his senior year without ever having done a real day of work, and Sally (Roberts), a popular but complicated gal who recognizes in him a kindred spirit. Might there be love in the air? Or maybe just a deep friendship and mutual respect?
Directed by Gavin Wiesen, The Art of Getting By offers a healthy roster of co-stars, including Rita Wilson (Jingle All the Way), Sam Robards (American Beauty), Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) and Elizabeth Reaser (Twilight: New Moon).
Released on a limited basis to U.S. theaters in June, 2011 following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, the film grossed $1.4 million at the box office.
The Blu-ray offers an extensive selection of bonus features, including the following:
● Audio Commentary with Director Gavin Wiesen
● New York Slice of Life
● On Young Love
● Fox Movie Channel Presents – In Character with Freddie Highmore
● HBO First Look- The Making of The Art Of Getting By
