Justin Timberlake (Friends With Benefits) stars in the science-fiction film In Time, written and directed by the talented Andrew Niccol, who also wrote and helmed the futuristic sci-fier drama Gattaca and the fantasy-comedy S1mOne.
In the movie, time has become the ultimate currency and genetic alteration has allowed people to stop aging at 25 years old. Upon reaching 25, however, the countdown toward their end of time begins and in order to stay alive, everyone must work to buy themselves more time — by the minutes, if need be — or die within a year. The rich can buy a long future, while the rest are left to negotiate for immortality.
When struggling Will Salas (Timberlake) comes in contact with a “millionaire” (Matthew Bomer, TV’s White Collar), he is gifted more time than he can imagine. But after he is falsely accused of murder, Will turns into a fugitive on the run and becomes determined to bring down the entire system by any means possible.
In Time also stars Cillian Murphy (Inception), Olivia Wilde (Cowboys & Aliens), Vincent Carthesier (Mad Men) and, as the woman who joins Timberlake on his fateful adventure, Amanda Seyfried (Letters to Juliet).
Even with its pretty-cool, Logan’s Run-ish concept and top-notch visual effects and action scenes, In Time rang up a tepid $36 million at the U.S. box office when it was released wide to theaters in October 2011.
The Blu-ray and DVD have the following bonus features:
● deleted/extended scenes
● “The Mintues” featurette (Blu-ray only)
● Access to “In Time The Game” App (Blu-ray only)
