The ReboundOscar-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones’ (Chicago) last movie before she took a three-year hiatus, The Rebound was released in theaters overseas in 2009 but didn’t make it out in the U.S. until this disc release in 2012.

In the romantic comedy, Zeta-Jones stars as thirtysomething Sandy, who discovers her husband has been cheating on her. After moving herself and her two young children from the suburbs into New York, she meets twentysomething Aram (Justin Bartha, The Hangover Part II), a local coffee shop employee whose married to a woman who needed a green card. Sandy and Aram strike up a friendship that evolves into… well, you know. But the question quickly pops up of whether their relationship is real or a rebound.

Written and directed by Bart Freundlich (Trust the Man), the film also features John Schneider (TV’s Smallville), Lynn Whitfield (Mama, I Want to Sing) and singer Art Garfunkel.

The Rebound Blu-ray boxThe Rebound got mixed reviews from critics. Hollywood Reporter’s Jon Frosch said of the movie, “Saddling two game actors with a tone-deaf, charmless script, the film makes recent J. Lo vehicle The Back-Up Plan look like Billy Wilder in comparison.”

But Anna Smith from Britain’s Empire Magazine said, “Thanks to a mischievous humour and charming leads, [The Rebound is] surprisingly enjoyable. More Zeta-Jones rom-coms, please.”

The DVD and Blu-ray includes just one special feature: cast and crew interviews.

Here’s the movie’s trailer, which shows The Rebound has the requisite tears as well as laughs:
