Rachel McAdams (Midnight in Paris) and Channing Tatum (Haywire) must fall in love twice in The Vow, the 2012 romance movie that brought in a whopping $122.8 million when it was in theaters.
Rated PG-13, the film tells the story of husband and wife Leo (Tatum) and Paige (McAdams), whose relationship is rocked when a car accident puts Paige in a coma. When she wakes up, she has lost her memory and doesn’t know who Leo is.
Under the influence of her controlling parents (Sam Neill of Daybreakers and Jessica Lange of Cape Fear), Paige reconnects with her ex-fiance (Scott Speedman, Barney’s Version) and Leo is forced to recreate the moments that shaped the romance of him and Paige to get her back.
Inspired by a true story, The Vow is the first feature film directed by Michael Sucsy, who also helmed the drama TV movie Grey Gardens.
Critics panned the film, calling it “ridiculous,” “riddled with cliches” and “seriously tedious.” But moviegoers felt differently, evidenced by that large box-office take.
The Blu-ray/DVD Combo pack comes with a bunch of special features:
- commentary with director Sucsy
- “Leo and Paige at a Concert”
- “‘Til Death Do They Part”
- “Profiles of Love: Paige and Leo”
- “Trying to Remember”
- gag reel.
The DVD has the commentary, the gag reel and “Leo and Paige at a Concert.”
Both discs also have UltraViolet, offering a copy of The Vow as a download or streamed.
