Full Metal Jacket 25th Anniversary Blu-ray Book is the latest edition of Stanley Kubrick’s (Barry Lyndon) 1987 war film saga about the Vietnam conflict and the dehumanizing process that turns people into trained killers.
The war drama stars Matthew Modine (Hemingway’s Garden of Eden), Adam Baldwin (Independence Day), Vincent D’Onofrio (Kill the Irishman), Dorian Harewood (Mayor Cupcake) and Arliss Howard (TV’s Rubicon) as Marine recruits who experience boot-camp hell under the punishing command of an intense drill sergeant R. Lee Ermey (Seven) before being sent off to the savage war in Vietnam.
The anniversary edition of the film (Warner first issued it on Blu-ray in 2007) is showcased in premium Blu-ray Book packaging with 44 pages that include a personal letter and reflections from star Modine, along with behind-the-scenes photos. Also included are a handful of previously issued bonus features along with a new-to-disc supplement Stanley Kubrick’s Boxes, a 2008 documentary that finds filmmaker Jon Ronson looking through the contents of some 1,000 boxes of meticulously sorted materials that Kubrick left behind prior to his death.
Here’s the complete list of bonus features:
- Commentary by Adam Baldwin, Vincent D’Onofrio, R. Lee Ermey and critic/screenwriter Jay Cocks
- Documentary Stanley Kubrick’s Boxes (new to DVD)
- Featurette Full Metal Jacket: Between Good and Evil
- Theatrical Trailer
