GoneThe thriller Gone got poor reviews from critics, but the 2012 movie has some star power in Amanda Seyfried (In Time), Jennifer Carpenter (TV’s Dexter) and Wes Bentley (American Beauty).

The film follows Seyfried’s Jill, who was kidnapped two years earlier by a serial killer. Now her sister has gone missing and Jill believes the serial killer has returned. Unfortunately, no one else believes her, so she’s on the hunt for him by herself.

Heitor Dhalia (Adrift) directed the PG-13 film, which grossed a low $11.7 million. However, considering the movie’s budget was only $5 million, it was a financial success.

Critics warned against the movie. Rolling Stone‘s Peter Travers said, “It lies there flapping like a dying fish. Skip it,” and Eric D. Snider of Film.com said, “No money should ever change hands in any Gone-related interaction, unless it is because you are buying matches and gasoline to set all the copies of it on fire.” Ouch!

On DVD and Blu-ray, you can be the judge.
