Danny Trejo prepares to do what he does best in Bad Ass.

Danny Trejo (Predators) kicks criminal butts and takes the law into his own hands in the violent 2012 action drama film Bad Ass.

In the movie, decorated Vietnam hero Frank Vega (Trejo) returns home only to get shunned by society leaving him without a job or his high school sweetheart. It’s not until 40 years later when an incident on a commuter bus, where he protects an elderly black man from a pair of skin heads, makes him a local hero and he’s suddenly celebrated once again. But his good fortune suddenly turns for the worse when his best friend is murdered and the police aren’t doing anything about it. It’s then that Vega decides to really take matters into his own hands…

Bad Ass was inspired by the 2010 Epic Beard Man video that captured two men’s highly charged verbal and brutal physical altercation on a public bus in Oakland, California. Posted to YouTube, the video went viral and the heroic elder bearded man was anointed Epic Beard Man. The video has since garnered more than five million views.

Directed and co-written by Craig Moss (The 41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It), the R-rated Bad Ass co-stars Ron Perlman (TV’s Sons of Anarchy) and Charles S. Dutton (Alien 3). As for Trejo, the man just doesn’t quit. He appeared in some dozen films produced in 2011 including A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World, Poolboy: Drowning Out the Fury and Recoil. And from what we can see, he’s got at least another dozen on tap for 2012.

Bad Ass premiered in April, 2012 as a video-on-demand title and as a limited release feature in a few U.S. theaters.

Bonus features on the Bad Ass discs include an audio commentary and a “Birth of Bad Ass” featurette.
