The Starz Original drama television series Magic City: Season One is set in the dangerous and decadent but undeniably desirable Miami Beach of yesteryear.
Magic City kicks off in 1959 at Miami’s luxurious Miramar Playa Hotel where hotelier Ike Evans (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, The Losers) is conjuring up ways to finance his dream. He has essentially sold his soul to the devil by taking on a partner who’s got the cash to make the Miramar the playground that it is: mob boss Ben “The Butcher” Diamond (Danny Huston, The Kreutzer Sonata). Ike’s wife Vera (Olga Kurylenko, Centurion), a former showgirl, and his three children think he is an honorable man, but he just can’t break his pact with the most notorious criminal in town. So Ike’s life is a façade: his home and his business must be kept separate – but does he have the sleight of hand to pull it off?
Created by writer and executive producer Mitch Glazer (The Recruit), the eight-episode TV show co-stars Steven Strait (City Island), Christian Cooke (Cemetery Junction), Jessica Marais (TV’s Packed to the Rafters), Yul Vazquez (American Gangster); Dominik Garcia-Lorido (City Island) and Kelly Lynch (TV’s The L Word).
Starz Entertainment has already ordered a 10-episode second season of the show for 2013, so here’s a chance to catch up on all the sleaze, sun and sex that you may have missed the first time ‘round.
