Hart of Dixie season 1The CW’s Hart of Dixie is a comedic fish-out-of-water TV show with plenty of romance and drama and the lovely Rachel Bilson (Waiting for Forever) as the star.

Bilson plays Dr. Zoe Hart (get it?), a surgeon in New York who unexpectedly finds herself working as a general practitioner in the tiny town of BlueBell, Alabama, after she’s turned down for a prestigious fellowship she had been sure to get. Like in all good big-city-girl-in-small-town stories, the change helps Bilson’s Hart become a better doctor and a better person, and love might not be far away.

In the television series’ season 1, the New York girl accidentally crashes the Mayor’s float in the Founder’s Day Parade, causes a stir with shocking news about the local minister and his wife, hits a ghost with her car and discovers her own legacy to the BlueBell Belles.

Created by Leila Gerstein (Gossip Girl), Hart of Dixie also stars Jaime King (Red Tails), Cress Williams (Friday Night Lights), Scott Porter (The Good Wife) and Tim Matheson (National Lampoon’s Animal House).

The five-DVD set includes all 22 episodes from the first season, plus these extras:

  • “Straight From the Hart of Dixie” featurette with the show’s creative team and stars talking about the characters and recreating the customs and lifestyle of the South
  • gag reel
  • deleted scenes.
