Piranha 3DD movie sceneThe campy comedy-horror film Piranha 3DD, a sequel to Piranha 3D – the 2010 reboot of the fan-favorite franchise from the ‘70s  – stars Danielle Panabaker (The Crazies), Katrina Bowden (TV’s 30 Rock), David Koechner (Get Smart), Christopher Lloyd (Piranha), Gary Busey (The Buddy Holly Story) and David Hasselhoff (TV’s Baywatch), who knows a bit about the possible dangers found in the water.

Directed by John Gulager (Feast) and written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (the writing team behind four Saw titles), Piranha 3DD unleashes, once again, a prehistoric school of bloodthirsty piranhas who are looking for a few good meals. This time around, they furious fishies sink their razor-sharp teeth into the visitors at The Big Wet Water Park, a sprawling amusement attraction complete with water slides and a lazy river.

The movie received a limited opening in U.S. theaters in June, 2012 following a whole lot of negative pre-release buzz. It ultimately gobbled up a paltry $400,000 at the box office (which is pretty bad considering the film cost an estimated $20 million to produce).

Still, with blood, babes and boobs (in 3D, yet!), we’re thinking there’s some potential here for the right audience!
