The Expendables 2Even more action stars are packed into sequel The Expendables 2.

The regulars from the first movie are here, Sylvester Stallone (Cop Land) in full Rambo mode, Jason Statham (The Mechanic), Jet Li (Ocean Heaven) in a cameo this time, Dolph Lundren (Universal Soldier), Terry Crews (Gamer), Randy Couture (Set Up) and Bruce Willis (Red), in a bigger role. But added to the cast are Chuck Norris (TV’s Walker, Texas Ranger), Jean-Claude Van Damme (6 Bullets) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator).

In this second film, Stallone’s bad-ass mercenary team, also including relative youngster Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games),  joins female bad-ass Yu Nan (In Love We Trust) to track down a stop mad man terrorist Van Damme before he gets hold of five tons of weapons-grade plutonium.

R-rated The Expendables 2 got better reviews from critics than its predecessors, but didn’t do quite as well at the box office. Still the film’s gross was a very nice $84 million. As New York Post‘s Lou Lumenick wrote, “It’s hard not to like a movie in which Bruce Willis’ toupee-less CIA agent accuses Stallone’s ragtag band of mercenaries of engaging in ‘male pattern badness.'”

Along with 7.1 DTS-HD sound, the Blu-ray/DVD Combo pack comes crammed with special features. Here’s the list:

  • audio commentary with director Simon West
  • featurette “Gods of War: Assembling Earth’s Mightiest Anti-Heroes”
  • featurette “Big Guns, Bigger Heroes: The 1980s and the Rise of the Action Film”
