Denzel Washington (Safe House) gives an Oscar-worthy performance in Flight.
The drama movie stars Washington as pilot Whip Whitaker, who’s battling alcoholism. After his plane crashes due to mechanical failure, Washington’s heroic landing is overshadowed by the secret he’s been keeping.
Written by John Gatins (Real Steel), Flight is a return to the likes of Cast Away and Contact for director Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future).
The R-rated movie also stars Bruce Greenwood (Dinner for Schmucks), John Goodman (The Big Lebowski), Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), Melissa Leo (The Fighter) and Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2).
Flight grossed $92 million in theaters, to rave reviews from critics. Richard Roeper said Washington “gives one of his most nuanced and impressive performances.” Denver Post‘s Lisa Kennedy said the movie is “an old-fashioned drama, and all the better for it.” We at Disc Dish also highly recommend it.
The Blu-ray/DVD Combo pack comes with four special features:
- “Origins of Flight“
- “The Making of Flight“
- “Anatomy of a Plane Crash”
- Q&A Highlights.
The Blu-ray pack also offers digital copy and instant streaming of the movie via UltraViolet.
The film also is available on DVD but without any extras.
