Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right), Matt Dillon (Armored), Darren Criss (TV’s Glee) and Bob Balaban (Moonrise Kingdom) star in the 2013 comedy Girl Most Likely.
Leading lady Wiig is Imogene, a failed New York playwright awkwardly navigating the transition from Next Big Thing to Last Year’s News. After her career and relationship both hit the skids, Imogene is forced to make the humiliating move back home to New Jersey with her eccentric family, including her gambling-addicted mother (Bening) and her mom’s oddball new boyfriend (Dillon). Adding further insult to injury, her bedroom is being rented out to a pop-star impersonator (Criss). Through it all, Imogene eventually realizes that she must finally come to love and accept both her family along with her Jersey roots if she’s ever going to be strong enough to get the hell away from them.
Directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini (The Extra Man), the PG-13-rated opened in a limited theatrical run in the U.S. to tepid reviews in July, 2013. The public didn’t respond all that favorably either, with the film ringing up a disappointing $1.4 million at the domestic box office.
The Blu-ray and DVD contain the following bonus features:
- “Making Most Likely” featurette
- “Life in the Human Shell” featurette
- “How to be a Pop Star Impersonator” featurette
- Deleted Scenes
- Gag Reel
