Drama biography movie Dallas Buyers Club scored high with critics and the few moviegoers who saw it in theaters, so make sure you check it out on disc.
Based on a trus story, the film stars Matthew McConaughey (Mud) as cowboy hustler Ron Woodroof, who, in 1985 Dallas, discovers he’s diagnosed as HIV-positive. Finding it difficult to get the drugs he needs, he find unconventional ways to get medication for him and other patients. His efforts unite a band of outcasts struggling for dignity and acceptance, including Rayon (Jared Leto, Lord of War).
Directed by Jean-Marc Vallee (The Young Victoria), Dallas Buyers Club also stars Jennifer Garner (The Odd Life of Timothy Green), Steve Zahn (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) and Denis O’Hare (TV’s American Horror Story).
The R-rated film grossed an impressive $16 million in a limited release to theaters, with viewers getting a treat. According to Philadelphia Inquirer critic Steven Rea, “Just about everything is right with Dallas Buyers Club, beginning with Matthew McConaughey’s literally transformative portrayal.”
