MGM Home Entertainment gave the 1995 movie Showgirls its debut on high-definition Blu-ray on June 15, 2010.
The notoriously campy film stars Elizabeth Berkley as a woman dreaming of making it big as a Vegas showgirl and Gina Gershon as a successful showgirl who sees Berkley as a threat. The sexy movie has a 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it’s one audiences love to laugh at.
Directed by Paul Verhoeven, whose Basic Instinct was followed up by Showgirls and campy sci-fi Starship Troopers, Showgirls also stars Kyle MacLachlan, whose Dune arrived on Blu-ray on April 27.
On DVD, Showgirls was issued in its initial release, a Fully Exposed Edition and a VIP Limited Edition. The Blu-ray, a combo pack including the movie on high-definition as well as on DVD, is the Showgirls: 15th Anniversary Sinsational Edition.
