New Release: The Endless Summer Director’s Special Edition DVD

On Aug. 17, 2010, Monterey Media released the world’s most influential surf movie, Bruce Brown’s 1966 documentary The Endless Summer, in a Director’s Special Edition two-DVD set.

Packaged in a specially designed case featuring an embossed and foiled version of the film’s original iconic artwork, the digitally remastered film comes with an ocean full of special features:

  • retrospective featurettes
  • a Bruce Brown timeline
  • biographies
  • artwork from around the world and more.

The DVD carries a suggested retail price of $24.95.

Issued on DVD the same day were The Ultimate Summer Bruce Brown Surf Collection, a five-disc box set containing the entire library of surf films from legendary surf auteur Brown, including The Endless Summer, The Endless Summer II, Barefoot Adventure, Slippery When Wet, Surf Crazy, Surfin’ Shorts, Surfing Hollow Days and Waterlogged.

Priced at $59.95, the boxed set of films comprise more than nine hours of some of the greatest big surf footage around.
