Wagner & Me movie scene

Stephen Fry stands in front of a bust of Dickie in Wagner & Me.

English actor and raconteur Stephen Fry explores his passion for history’s most controversial composer, Richard Wagner, in the 2010 documentary film Wagner & Me.

Can we (and should we) salvage Richard Wagner’s spectacular music from its embrace by Adolf Hitler? In the film, Fry attempts to answer this question with his trademark wit and intelligence. With Fry as our guide, Wagner & Me takes a provocative and surprisingly enjoyable look at Wagner’s life – and his ‘stained’ legacy. Set against the backdrop of Germany’s annual Bayreuth Festival, the film serves as a solid introduction to the life and legacy of one of music’s most complicated geniuses.

Directed by Patrick McGrady, the unrated film played at a handful of festivals a couple of years back, as well as on British TV.

There are no bonus features on the DVD of the film.
