  • 4K Ultra HD, Digital Release: But I’m A Cheerleader

    4k Ultra HD/Digital Release Date: Aug. 26, 2025
    Price: 4K Ultra HD/Digital $29.99
    Studio: Lionsgate

The whimsically edgy 1999 comedy But I’m A Cheerleader follows teenager Megan (Natasha Lyonne, Sleeping with Other People), whose suburban existence filled with friends, cheerleading, and all-American fun is upended when her straight-laced parents suspect she may be a lesbian. In a panic, they send her to True Directions, a “rehabilitation” camp run by the strict and prudish Mary (Cathy Moriarty, Raging Bull), to mount an intervention led by counselor Mike (RuPaul Charles).

Megan dutifully follows the program — until she develops feelings for another camper in this timeless, satirical romantic-comedy about self-acceptance and love, directed by Jamie Babbit and co-starring Michelle Williams (All the Money in the World), Clea DuVall (HBO’s VEEP), Julie Delpy (2 Days in New York) and Melanie Lynskey (Win Win).

    FEATURES:

    • Beyond the Pink and Blue: A Conversation with Jamie Babbit (HD; 11:46) is new to this release and offers some interesting background and context. (Exclusive 4K Featurette!)
    • Audio Commentary with Director Jamie Babbit, Costume Designer Alix Friedberg, and Production Designer Rachel Kamerman
    • But I’m a Cheerleader Class Reunion (HD; 20:47) is a fantastically enjoyable Zoom event moderated by Kate Arthur from Variety and featuring Jamie Babbit, Natasha Lyonne, Clea DuVall, Melanie Lynskey, Cathy Moriarty, Douglas Spain, Joel Michaely, Dante Basco, and Katrina Phillips.
    • Making But I’m a Cheerleader . . . in 1999 (HD; 8:17) incorporates archival interviews and behind the scenes footage from an archival featurette sourced from some pretty ragged looking video.

    • Student Film: Discharge (HD; 2:59) is an early black and white piece by Babbit.

Writer-director Kevin Smith (Tusk) presents his most personal film to date with this coming-of-age story— set in the summer of 1986 — that follows three sixteen-year-old friends who spend their Saturdays sneaking into movies at the local cineplex.

When one of the guys invites the girl of his dreams to see an R-rated film, all hilarity breaks loose, as a self-important theater manager (Ken Jeong, Pain & Gain) and teen rivalries interfere with his best-laid plans.

Justin Long (Going the Distance), Rosario Dawson (Fire with Fire), Jason Biggs (American Reunion), and more contribute outrageous characters to this poignant comic valentine to moviegoing and the youth of the ’80s.

Bonus features on this baby include an audio commentary from writer/director Smith, a making-of featurette, and a trailer!

4K Ultra HD Release Date: May 7, 2024
    Price: 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray/Digital $30.99
    Studio: Lionsgate

One from the Heart: Reprise offers a spectacular 4K restoration and reimagining of the 1982 cult favorite from Francis Ford Coppola (Apocalypse Now, The Conversation).

Six minutes of footage have been added to replace the original negative, previously thought to be destroyed, resulting in a brand-new Reprise version, approved by Coppola himself.

The film tells the story of a Las Vegas couple (Teri Garr, Frederic Forrest) whose break-up on the Fourth of July leads them both to a night on the Strip in pursuit of their romantic fantasies (Raul Julia, Nastassja Kinski). But in this town of gamblers and dreamers, should they bet it all on dreams, or give true love another roll of the dice?

Featuring breathtaking design, show-stopping set pieces, the stunning photography of Vittorio Storaro (1900) and accompanied by the Oscar-nominated music of the one and only Tom Waits, this one definitely warrants a look-see!

    Price: 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray $24.96, DVD $10.99, Blu-ray $19.96

Old blood meets new blood in this action-packed, R-rated EXPEND4BLES, featuring an all-star lineup that includes action legends Jason Statham (The Mechanic), Sylvester Stallone (Creed), Dolph Lundgren (Universal Soldier), and Randy Couture (Set Up). And in this fourth Expendables outing, they are joined for the first time by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Escape Plan), Megan Fox (Jonah Hex), and Andy Garcia (City Island).

This time ‘round, the highly skilled mercenaries take on an arms dealer and his private army with every weapon they can get their hands on, the new recruits bring daring styles and tactics that give “new blood” a whole new meaning.

…or at least that’s what the publicity materials state! With this fourth entry in the series, it’s clear that everyone is getting a bit tired (Lundgren, in particular, looks pretty uninterested in the proceedings!) But I’ll say that the end result here is that EXPEND4BLES, as directed by former stuntman Scott Waugh (Need for Speed), is a solid-enough action vehicle with a bunch of familiar faces to balance out the new ones. Though there isn’t that much freshness to this exercise, there’s enough heart and oomph from Stallone and Statham to keep this old school action effort on-target for its relatively brief running time.

The film and its earlier installments are available in all kind of configurations, so be sure to check’em out!
